01. The Challenge

Accountancy is a low-frequency, high-trust switching decision. Most people change accountant rarely and reluctantly, which means the advertising has to overcome inertia rather than create desire — a much harder job than it looks from the outside.

It is also a category where generic advertising collapses into price competition almost immediately. Sidekick's real advantage was specificity: an accountancy built around how agencies actually operate. That advantage is completely invisible in a standard accountancy ad.

02. Our Involvement

Start & Scale built the campaigns around founder-led content rather than firm-led messaging. The shoot produced talking-head material on a branded set — the founder answering the questions an agency owner would actually ask, with the working detail visible: laptops open, numbers on the table, the practice's own brand rather than stock professionalism.

Paid campaigns ran that content to agency owners specifically, with the qualification carried inside the creative so that the applications arriving were from the businesses Sidekick is built to serve.

03. The Result

The campaigns produced over 100 applications from prospective clients.

Because targeting and qualification were both handled in the creative, those applications arrived pre-filtered to agency owners rather than as general accountancy enquiries that would have to be sorted afterwards.

Common questions

How do accountancy firms win clients from paid advertising?

By narrowing rather than broadening. Start & Scale built Sidekick Accounting's campaigns around a single client type — agency owners — with founder-led content answering their specific questions, producing over 100 applications.

Does founder-led content work for professional services?

It is usually the only thing that does. Accountancy is a trust decision, and a named person answering real questions outperforms firm-level messaging, which collapses into price comparison.
